2003 Update Stranahan High School held its 4th annual Alumni Night, on November 6, 2003. Once again, the event was held in the gym and refreshments were served, courtesy of Mrs. Tracy Marhefka and the Culinary Arts Department . Old yearbooks, including those from the classes of '58 and '59 were available for inspection, but the1960 book was missing. This year, there were only two attendees from the early years - Mike Roland (aka Mike Walsh,'59) and I - Bev Bryan Hoppe ('60). After the ROTC Color Guard presented the flag we were welcomed by Principal Egle Gallagher, who introduced the band and cheerleaders. Cheerleaders dance to the band's lively music! Sgt. Major Don Bennett who is the school Athletic Director as well as head of the ROTC program welcomed everyone and introduced members of the athletic teams. Don Bennett As always, each alumnus/a was invited to introduce him/herself, give their year of graduation. All alumni in attendance received a "Fighting Dragon Alumni" tee shirt. Bev and Mike display the tee-shirts. 2004 Update Stranahan's 5th annual Alumni Night was held on November 3, 2004. Going high-tech, the postcards that were sent out to notify everyone featured this glossy graphic creation!
Unfortunately, I was the sole representative from the early years. Where, oh where was Mike Roland? The Graff sisters? Mike Mucci? Or ChipWygant? It was particularly bad since the big event for the evening was a dance contest! Because there was no one else to participate from '59 and only me from the 60's I was encouraged by the entire crowd to dance. Not one to back down from a challenge, I showed them I wasn't too old to "get down"! I was finally joined by a man who had graduated in 1968 - I guess he thought if I were brave enough to do it he should too! New alumni tee-shirts were given to everyone.
